Storage Shacklewell Modern Slavery Commitment
Storage Shacklewell is committed to conducting all aspects of its business with integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in our own operations and throughout our supply chains.
We recognise that modern slavery is a global issue that can affect any sector or geography. We are determined to play our part in identifying and addressing risks, strengthening our controls, and fostering a culture where exploitation is never tolerated.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Storage Shacklewell operates a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to every aspect of our business, including the provision of storage services, our facilities management, and all procurement activities.
We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including suppliers, contractors, agency workers, and other business partners. We are committed to refusing to engage, or to continuing to engage, with any party that is found to be involved in modern slavery practices or that fails to cooperate with our efforts to prevent such practices.
Our Supply Chain Standards and Due Diligence
Our supply chain includes providers of goods and services such as construction and maintenance contractors, equipment suppliers, cleaning and security providers, and professional services. We are progressively implementing enhanced due diligence processes to identify and mitigate risks of modern slavery within these relationships.
Suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment, and human rights laws. As part of our onboarding and renewal processes, we assess suppliers for ethical conduct and reserve the right to request evidence of their own anti-slavery policies, training, and monitoring arrangements.
Supplier Audits and Compliance Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance stance, Storage Shacklewell undertakes proportionate supplier audits and reviews, based on risk and materiality. These may include on-site visits to facilities, document checks, verification of workforce arrangements, and interviews with management or workers, where appropriate and feasible.
We expect full cooperation from our suppliers with any audit or information request relating to modern slavery. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. In the event of serious or persistent non-compliance, we may suspend or terminate the commercial relationship and, where necessary, report concerns to relevant authorities.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Shacklewell encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to raise any concerns they may have about suspected modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business. Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels, via line managers, senior leadership, or other designated contacts within the business.
We are committed to ensuring that no individual who raises a concern in good faith suffers any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment. All reports will be handled sensitively and, where reasonably possible, confidentially. We will investigate credible concerns promptly, take appropriate remedial action, and review our procedures to prevent recurrence.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly staff involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier engagement. Internal guidance and training are being developed and updated so that colleagues can recognise potential indicators of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to modern slavery, including refining our risk assessments, enhancing supplier engagement, and updating our policies in line with emerging best practice and regulatory expectations.
Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing Storage Shacklewell's response to modern slavery sits with senior management, who ensure that appropriate policies, controls, and monitoring activities are in place. This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to assess its effectiveness and to reflect any developments in our business, supply chains, or legal obligations.
Following each review, we will update this statement and any related internal procedures as needed. By maintaining clear governance, robust reporting mechanisms, and a strong ethical culture, Storage Shacklewell seeks to minimise the risk of modern slavery and to safeguard the rights and dignity of everyone connected to our operations and supply chains.
